The Pavilion
A modern counterpoint to the old studio buildings, this award-winning steel structure was designed by architect Enrico Daffonchio as part of an exhibition at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden.
Titled Untamed, the collaborative exhibition explored the lost balance between humankind and nature, and included poetry by Ian McCallum and sculpture by Dylan Lewis. Thereafter, the pavilion was erected as a permanent structure in the Sculpture Garden, where it now serves as a space for exhibitions and functions. The terraces above the structure – from where one can see Table Mountain, Cape Point and False Bay – are dedicated to ongoing sculpture exhibitions by artists Lewis admires and whose work speaks to the themes of the garden.
